HAVE A LIVING MUSEUM THAT BRINGS TOGETHER 4 CLIMATES UNDER ONE ROOF
In Québec, changes in temperature are frequent and are a source of much discussion! But… that’s not the case at the Biodôme! This living museum is the only place in the world where four climates exist side-by-side under the same roof. In the space of a few hours, visitors can travel from a lush tropical forest to a maple grove in the Laurentian forest, from the banks of the St. Lawrence River to the Arctic and Antarctic. Plants, animals, rocks, and climates—all are reproduced in a breathtakingly realistic way and are teeming with life. In addition to being a source of wonder for young and old alike, the Biodôme has a mission to increase awareness of environmental issues. In a world dominated by technology and virtual reality, the Biodôme reminds us that nothing is more fascinating than the great chain of life. Remember that the Biodôme housed the Velodrome during the 1976 Olympic games. The Biodôme opened in 1992 as part of the festivities surrounding Montréal’s 350th anniversary. In addition, we must also mention that the Biodôme is part of the largest scientific museum complex in Canada, Montréal’s Nature Museums. These Nature Museums are getting ready for a unique initiative in Montréal, with the creation of the Quartier de la vie, the first place in the world dedicated to humankind and nature.
