use technology to bring authentic archaeological remains to life
In the multimedia show Yours Truly, Montréal, presented at Pointe-à-Callière, the Montréal Museum of Archaeology and History, art and technology are being used to share our history. Presented at the very birthplace of the city, Yours Truly, Montréal offers a unique immersive experience, with the show projected in situ on a 270-degree screen and on authentic 17th century archaeological remains. It’s a new way for spectators to explore the history of Montréal, from the Ice Age to the present day. The marriage of cutting-edge technology and a strong artistic vision delivers a spectacular trip through time and space. And, through the use of 3-D mapping techniques, the projectors are able to detect the spatial volumetry, bringing the images to life as part of the archaeological remains, creating an absolutely unique result. To design and produce this multimedia show, Pointe-à-Callière’s Executive Director, Francine Lelièvre, turned to a consortium of firms recognized for their expertise: the new-media studio Moment Factory, which produced the show, and the exhibition design and production experts at gsmprjct°, who outfitted the space to allow for the projection on a configuration of screens and archaeological remains.
