have Twitter feed from characters in a Molière play
People who use the Twitter social network enjoy engaging in direct exchanges with colleagues or public figures. But never before have they been able to tweet in Alexandrine verse... with characters created by Molière! This is, however, exactly what happened when three characters from Molière’s Le Bourgeois gentilhomme—Monsieur and Madame Jourdain, along with the Marquise Dorimène—made an appearance on the popular network. It was all part of an original campaign created and carried out by Phéromone, the interaction agency, with the support of ARTV, for their Théâtre du Nouveau Monde account, to promote the play presented during the TNM’s 2009-2010 season. Success came quickly: hundreds of users closely followed the colourful character’s tweets. The result was increased awareness that had an impact on attendance, to the extent that additional performances of the play were necessary. This innovative campaign also won great acclaim from experts in the field: “Molière on Twitter” was the recipient of a Grand Prix Boomerang for the Best Use of Twitter and an Infopresse-CDMQ Media Award, in addition to garnering international recognition with a Bees Awards for Best Use of a Micro-Blogging Platform.
